How to Use My Aged Care for Physiotherapy in Retirement Villages

My Aged Care can fund your physiotherapy and exercise physiology sessions at your retirement village. This guide explains how Home Care Packages and CHSP funding work, and how to get started with Reignite Health as your approved provider.

What Is My Aged Care?

My Aged Care is the Australian Government's gateway to aged care services. It connects older Australians with the support they need to live independently, including physiotherapy, exercise programs, and allied health services delivered in your retirement village.

Through My Aged Care, you can access two main funding pathways for physiotherapy: Home Care Packages (HCP) and the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP). Both can be used to fund Reignite Health's aged care exercise programs and allied health services.

Home Care Packages Explained

Home Care Packages provide a coordinated package of services tailored to your individual care needs. There are four levels, and all can include physiotherapy and exercise physiology:

Level 1

Basic care needs$9,500/year approx.

Minor physiotherapy needs, occasional exercise supervision

Level 2

Low-level care needs$16,700/year approx.

Regular physiotherapy sessions, group exercise programs

Level 3

Intermediate care needs$36,400/year approx.

Intensive physiotherapy, multiple weekly sessions, specialist referrals

Level 4

High-level care needs$55,200/year approx.

Comprehensive rehabilitation, daily exercise programs, multidisciplinary care

Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)

CHSP provides entry-level support for older Australians who need a small amount of help to continue living independently. It's often the first step for residents who aren't yet eligible for a Home Care Package.

CHSP can fund allied health services including physiotherapy consultations, exercise physiology, and group fitness classes. A small co-payment may apply depending on your financial situation.
